Beukenhof
Offices and residential project with apartments
4.105 m² (including car park)
Ghent, Kortrijksesteenweg
The project includes 20 apartments each with a spacious balcony. The ground floor accommodates offices which open up to a communal garden. The area in front of the building has been divided into several “garden rooms”. Maximum integration of the building into the existing on-site landscaping has been sought.
The materials used are in keeping with those of the surrounding buildings. A heron grey brick in running bond emphasizes the horizontal lines. The building projects a snug impression thanks to the use of thin-bed mortar joints and shadow gaps.
Three highly detailed bay windows accentuate the façade to create an additional perspective for the residents along the side of the Kortrijksesteenweg. In the apartments, living rooms feature large sliding doors and bedrooms have vertical tilt & turn windows.
There is a common underground car park. Its access cuts through the building along the rear offices, thus ensuring a dynamic interaction between the living and work function of the building.
