This new build project of two multi-family buildings with 27 apartments and an underground car park is situated next to the site of The Loop in Sint-Denijs-Westrem.

Project Description

Together, the two apartment blocks cover 30% of the total land area and are approximately 11 metres apart. The block on the corner of Derbystraat consists of four storeys with roof volume. The smaller block, further in the Poolse Winglaan street, has one floor less. Both volumes are built in two opposite corners of the plot in a clear green setting. They are on top of the underground parking garage with direct access to the apartments.

The three-bedroom apartments are at penthouse level (with larger terraces) and on the ground floor (with garden area). In-between, there is a mix of two- and one-bedroom apartments (also with balconies).

The effect of cascading balconies and windows gives the two volumes the appearance of a sculpture in the surroundings. The sleek and exciting façade design differs from that of typical apartment buildings. The choice of materials creates a distinction with the surrounding buildings, without disturbing the harmony however. Inspiration was taken from the brick architecture that characterises the rest of the site. The cornice and eaves match the aluminium joinery because of their colour.
