Wellness Reylof
Wellness centre at hotel
519 m²
Ghent, Hoogstraat – Peperstraat – Komijnstraat – Blindeken
The project includes the restoration and decoration of a coach house with a listed monument status into a ‘wellness centre’ for Hotel Reylof. It consists of changing rooms, a swimming pool, treatment rooms, a fitness room, and a relaxation area with sauna and hammam.
The reception area, changing rooms and swimming pool with sun deck are located on the ground floor. A spacious fitness area and treatment rooms occupy the first floor. The sauna and hammam are under the dormer roof. The sandblasted and restored roof structure constitutes the focal point of the room.
The 18th century coach house is part of the historical Hotel Reylof. The restoration of the building was done in close consultation with the Department of Monuments of the City of Ghent. Their opinion was sought on various decisions, such as the colours of the façade and joinery, and the preservation of a number of interior elements.
Sustainable, timeless, but also low-maintenance materials were selected: stone, high quality ceramic tiles and mosaic. Indirect lighting creates an intimate atmosphere in the building. The use of specific wall covering with exclusive wallpaper gives each treatment room a unique ambiance.
The various heating and air conditioning systems are discreetly concealed. This ensures that they do not interfere with the aesthetics of the rooms in this historical building.
