Uitbreiding BMW Lochristi
BMW and MINI car dealership (workshop/bodywork)
1.300 m²
Lochristi, Antwerpsesteenweg
The purpose of the extension of the workshop/bodywork and the car parking on the lands at the rear was to ensure that Verstraeten could continue to serve its customers in a fast, friendly and convenient way.
The extension consisted of three sub-projects aimed at making sure the efficient service and operation of the car dealership could be maintained.
Sub-project 1: On one side, the building was extended at the reception of cars, where the 2 drive-in gates were replaced by 4 in order to halve the queues (at busy times).
Sub-project 2: A new 940 m² warehouse was built. This hangar accommodates the new bodywork workshop (3 times the surface of the current bodywork). Once the bodywork section had moved out, the current workshop was extended into the former bodywork area.
Sub-project 3: The parking capacity of 122 spaces was extended to a total of 297 parking spaces. A green zone of at least 5 m was kept on the edges to ensure that the extensive parking area (made from kws pavement) was sufficiently buffered in relation to the adjacent lots. At the rear, the car-free area was designed as a green zone.
Materials used: The workshops retained their industrial character. Insulated sandwich panels in gray (same as existing warehouse) were employed for the extension, surrounded by the necessary road system and green buffer. All materials are of a sustainable nature.
