KM Zwevegem – Autokeuring
Bedrijventerrein De Pluim, Zwevegem
The site is located at the De Pluim industrial estate, a recent development project of inter-communal property developer Leiedal. The site can be accessed directly from the E17 motorway and promises a high standard with regard to how it will fit into the surrounding environment. Within this context, a new vehicle inspection site was developed for KM nv, the authority responsible for vehicle inspection in West
Flanders.
The building’s schedule of requirements demanded that two inspection halls be built with a central administrative facility.
One of the halls will contain five inspection lines for passenger vehicles, while the other will contain three inspection lines for commercial vehicles and a shortened back-up line.
Each line will be executed in sufficient detail to accommodate the necessary inspection line equipment.
The administrative facility will feature a payment area, offices with a view of the inspection lines, sanitary facilities for the staff and visitors, and a warehouse on the ground floor.
The first story will house utility rooms, locker rooms and a cafeteria. The entire inspection facility will be built on the basis of a prefab concrete structure. The concrete will be executed in white to the greatest extent possible (analogous to the KM colours, which are blue and white).
Extensive paving will be done around the building to accommodate the necessary waiting lines, provide the necessary parking space and ensure enough room for manoeuvring.
The parking spaces along the central connecting road will be part of the industrial estate’s collective premises so that they can also be used for activities other than day-to-day operations.
